Am I eligible for a Medicare or Private Health Fund Rebate for my counselling session?
Yes. You can receive a Medicare rebate (see rebates below) if you have received a referral from your GP or Psychiatrist to see me. You are entitled to a maximum of 10 individual sessions and 10 group session per calendar year at present. I am able to provide you with a Medicare rebate on the spot so that you do not have to attend a Medicare office.
Yes. If you have a Private Health Insurer such as MBF, Medibank Private etc, and you do not wish to claim Medicare rebates, or have not gained an approved Medicare referral, you may be entitled to rebates. You will need to contact your Private Health Insurer to check the rebates that they will pay for Psychological Services.
You cannot claim both Medicare and Private Health from the same counseling session. You need to choose one or the other.
